π History & Origin
The Cockapoo is one of the oldest 'designer dogs', first developed in the United States in the 1950s. The aim was to combine the affectionate nature of the Cocker Spaniel with the intelligence and low-shedding coat of the Poodle, creating an ideal companion for families with allergies.
πͺ Physical Features
A small dog, they have a soft, curly, or wavy coat. They possess the cute face of a Cocker Spaniel and the elegance of a Poodle, appearing in various colors and patterns. Characterized by lively eyes and an adorable expression.
π§ Deep Personality
Cockapoos love forming deep bonds with people and often maintain a playful, affectionate 'eternal puppy' personality. They are devoted to their families and generally get along well with other pets and children. Their happy, positive nature brings joy to their surroundings.
π₯ Health & Lifespan
Average lifespan is 12-15 years. They can be susceptible to Patellar Luxation, Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), cataracts, and ear infections (due to their floppy ears). Regular ear cleaning and dental care are important.
π Training & Activities
Cockapoos are intelligent and eager to please, making them easy to train. They respond well to positive reinforcement training, and early socialization is important. Moderate daily exercise of about 30 minutes (walks, indoor play) is usually sufficient.
π Living Conditions
Thanks to their small size and adaptability, they adapt very well to apartment living. They are happiest when with people, so living indoors with their family is important. They are generally friendly with children and other pets.
𧬠MBTI Match
Like an ISFP human, Cockapoos are gentle, artistic, and highly adaptable 'Adventurers'. They enjoy the present moment, cherish deep bonds with loved ones, and brighten their surroundings with their unique charm.
