Lore & Heritage
In the Royal Tombs of Ur (Mesopotamia, c. 4000 BCE), Queen Puabi's headdress and royal seals were fashioned from vibrant carnelian. The Egyptian Book of the Dead mandated carnelian amulets of Isis placed on mummies' chests to fortify souls facing judgment. Islamic tradition records that the Prophet Muhammad wore an engraved carnelian seal ring set in silver on his right little finger.
