Origins & The Thunder God’s Ink
In ancient China as far back as the Tang Dynasty (circa 860 AD), scholar Liu Sun chronicled these glassy stones as Lei Gong Mo ("Ink of the Thunder God"), believing they plummeted from storm clouds during lightning strikes. Shamanic cultures across Australasia and the Americas revered them as sacred extraterrestrial talismans that deflected demons and cured barrenness. In Western geology, after decades of debating whether they were lunar volcanic ejecta, geochemical isotopic testing confirmed they were terrestrial glass blasted into near-space by massive cosmic impactors.
