Origins & Historical Discovery
Named in honor of Pavel Vladimirovich Jeremejev, renowned president of the Russian Imperial Mineralogical Society who examined the first specimens from Mt. Soktuj, Siberia, in 1883. For almost a century, it was regarded as an obscure mineral oddity. Everything changed in 1973 when gem-grade, hexagonal prismatic crystals of pristine water-sky blue were discovered near Cape Cross and subsequently in the Erongo complex of Namibia, establishing it as a blue-chip collector treasure.
