Lore & Heritage
Derived from the Greek "chrysos" (gold) and "prason" (leek), chrysoprase has been revered for millennia. Alexander the Great famously wore an exquisite chrysoprase amulet on his girdle during his eastern campaigns; according to legend, his military invincibility was directly linked to the talisman, which was tragically lost when a serpent struck it into the Euphrates River. In the 18th century, King Frederick the Great of Prussia adored it so lavishly that he adorned the palace of Sanssouci with rich chrysoprase wall panels.
