Angelic Wings Born from the Deccan Traps Basalt
Scolecite is primarily retrieved from the vesicular basalt cavities (geodes) of India’s legendary Deccan Traps. Tens of millions of years ago, colossal volcanic flood basalts trapped mineral-saturated hydrothermal fluids. Over millennia of cooling, these fluids meticulously crystallized into radiating needle-like fans within hollow volcanic cavities. Mineral enthusiasts and crystal healers universally likened these specimens to feathers from an archangel’s wing. Scientifically described in 1813 by German mineralogists, Scolecite represents the ultimate stillness and peace achieved only after the violent fiery chaos of volcanic creation has completely settled.
